The Annual OCA Iunch on 9th Feb 2020 was another extravagant affair on the pristine lawns of Anand Corporate New Delhi… and very well attended. It was wonderful to meet the “ gang” of Cottonians; a few from my class of 1970 ( Sukhdev Jeet Harry Mast Ram ) many stalwart seniors, many from years ahead and many from years past my time; a smart set of Next Gen OCs along with one, a handsome aspiring Bollywood Actor..!
(.. as a tribute to my late Father, I played escort to my esteemed Mother at the luncheon. Yes my Mother..)
In our midst was Director BCS Simon Weale, his lovely wife Rebecca who will be playing a very prominent role in School and their daughter Delilah a year older than my granddaughter Olivia, who is six and grows up in Sweden..
What a humble pair the Weales’ make and what a challenge they have taken on to attract 50% of lads from all global points “to yearn to study at BCS” as Chairman Emeritus “DC” stressed…
.. it’s about time the school goes beyond just the sub-continent and a sprinkle of lads from SE Asia.. it’s about time to get this fabulous institution on its unique pedestal; I can see parents even throwing in the kitchen sink to get their “prodigies” in to Bishop Cotton School SIMLA ! It is going to happen ! The road map has been laid, global traffic needs to see a lighthouse at BCS emanating the strongest signal 360 degrees to home in to our great alma mater..!
…it’s going to happen with the combined forces of the Director, the faculty, the Board of Governors, and each and every Cottonian using tomorrow’s technology today and an assortment of soft skills in this rapidly changing and challenging world ..
.. so when that young lad steps out into the world he stands apart, a scholar and a thorough gentleman whose formative years, the best years, happened at BCS.

So yesterday at the OCA luncheon I wanted to tell the gathering of :
us Old Cottonians,
the School faculty,
the Governors of the Board
the Director and Mrs Weale
“ hear me out Ma’am and Sirs..
I am the finished package of the greatest academic institution in the world … whilst them others may beg to differ.. my parents chose my path well…
.. I look up at the Heavens at my late Father..
Looking at you Mom perched delicately, quietly on your chair here at our OC luncheon …
I cannot Thank You enough..
