A fantastic book on legendary School Captain – H

A fantastic book on legendary School Captain – Hassan Agha (Ibbetson 1947) – who led the school during the dark times of the partition and had to leave BCS due to it. Written by his son, Jason Agha, the book primarily revolves around Hassan’s life and the countless adventures they had as a family, including a devastating tragedy.

A true Cottonian, Hassan showed great fortitude and lived a life with utmost humility and service to others. A very good and emotionally moving read! BCS is mentioned more than a few times, including some photos from school days! The book is available on Amazon

Pace University ties up with global IT major Saberpoint founded by Cottonian Ajay Bhumitra (Lefroy 1972). Pace University is partnering with global IT company Saberpoint to upgrade skills and provide workforce experience to students!

This partnership offers professional development and Salesforce training to our students.

This fund was established by President and CEO of Saberpoint (and Pace alum!) Ajay Bhumitra with the goal of “advancing a diverse and innovative workforce” – a goal all of us at Pace University can certainly get behind.

Sad to announce Kanwal Jit Singh (known as KaluMal

Sad to announce Kanwal Jit Singh (known as KaluMalu at BCS) passed on.

MESSAGE FROM HIS DAUGHTER [Namrita Singh McGarity]:

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that our father, Kanwal Jit Singh, is no longer with us. Dad fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s, and ultimately passed away at home, in his sleep, on Tuesday, January 13, 2021.
To the world Dad was a great friend, life of the party, ultimate prankster, travel and food enthusiast, Iphone fanatic, casino lover, and bona fide fashionista through and through. While he was all of that (and then some!) to us he was simply Dad…the man who taught us how to swim, shared his love for travel and adventure with us and taught us how to be independent and make something of our lives.
Though it has only been a day, the depth of this loss is already apparent. We will always love him and hold him in our hearts. As difficult as it feels at this moment, we are comforted by knowing that he is finally free of the walker, medications and all of the other constraints that held him back from living with the exuberance and passion with which he had always lived. Dad was larger than life. Only today did he finally transcend it once and for all.
Anyone who knew Dad knew how important family and friends were to him. There are no words to adequately thank each of you for the love and support you provided for Dad in his final years and that you continue to provide for us even as he is no longer with us. We would be lost without your support.

We came across a picture at the OCA [Delhi] Chapter facebook page of the BCS School-party leaving Simla station for the “plains” – a photo from 1930. The photo is from the Estate of Canon Peacey, sent by Mr. Barry Williamson to Raaja Bhasin and subsequently to Ashwani Virk who is the VP of OCA Delhi Chapter.
Here it is

J.R. PEACEY (1896-1971) was born in Hove, Sussex, England, the youngest of 10 children.
He graduated from Selwyn College, Cambridge, in 1921 with honors in Theology.

The third and current version of our School Song as written in 1930 by Jack Hammond, the English teacher and Canon Peacey, the Headmaster; Lawrence Crosthwaite’s talents were utilised in putting the words to music.

Funeral 03 Sept 2020
His grandson Ryan Stringer read our BCS school prayer which his Grandad (Peter) would’ve liked. Ryan also wore Peter Sahib’s OCA UK Tie (that he designed), BCS tie bar and cufflinks (pic attached).
Peter was cremated wearing his BCS Blazer, OCA UK tie and BCS tie bar.
The family expressed immense gratitude to see the School Flag at half mast, a lovely touch and well received by all members. Explicitly Thanking Director Simon Weale.
