Sad to announce Richard Oscar (Dick) D’Abreu passed away peacefully at SJOG Bunbury on the 14th March aged 91 years. Much love Husband of Joan – Marjorie D’Abreu. Father of Tony D’Abreu. Dad to Ken Bird Alan Bird Joanne Smith Steve Smith and all their families. A battle weary Serviceman finally at rest.

Really sad to read about the passing away of Dick D’Abreu. Always enjoyed reading his posts in the Mitre and later on the OCA web site. He will be deeply missed but will live in the hearts of all those who will remember him. Rest in peace Sir and deepest condolences to the family on their loss.

Dick’s mails were a pleasure to read. He connected us with so many of the old timers bringing back memories of an era long gone. His vivid accounts stirred your imagination to your days at BCS. He was a great store house of lovely memories. Will miss him for sure. Good bye, Dick and rest in peace. Our deepest condolences to the family.
So, so sad to read Dick passed away 14 March in Sunbury West Australia the same day a cousin 94, left my circle from Swindon Wiltshire.
Only last week I was in touch with Jimmy Lee in Canada asking about not hearing from Dick as I was in regular contact with him.
As we called him ‘Dabs’ – I remember him well from Curzon House. He was a good boxer & a friend of my Brother John 90.
I recall my brother telling me when some years ago he was visiting Australia, was being driven in a car by a friend and suddenly saw, unmistakably Dabs walking on the pavement.
Shocked with excitement he yelled to his friend to stop nearly causing an accident. Jumped out and ran after & met Dabs who did not recognize till after John told him to remember the boxing match with him, in school. Dabs had punched John in his Adams-apple and could not swallow for days. Dabs, hands ups said to John ……. you haven’t come now to exchange blows. I record this as the true spirit of BCS. John will be sad when I tell him.
Even though many of us are far across the water we OCs will remember him ……. Rest in Peace

Farewell dear friend.
It has been about 15 years knowing Richard (Dick) D’Abreu via exchanges of emails…he kept me in the know of his family and close Bishop Cotton School friends…I shall miss his letters tremendously.

My heartfelt condolences to Dick’s family on his passing. He made it a point to attend the OCA ( UK) luncheons during my days in London.
As we go through such an upheaval in our daily lives today we hope Dick is smiling, content with nearly a century of a great life.. May He Rest in Peace🙏
