BCS Teacher Leela Goel [née Advani] passed on

Leela Advani [later married name Goel] passed on at the age of 91 at New Delhi on 23rd September 2019 of old age complications. She was cremated at Lodhi Crematorium Delhi on 25/9/19.

Miss Advani” as she was known at BCS, taught English during 1953~55 and went back to Lucknow in ’55 to do a second Masters [in English, after having done an earlier one in Anthropology]. She then taught English at Isabella Thoburn College Lucknow after completing her Masters in English.

Mike King: Another precious letter

Attached is a letter from Mike King’s father, Charles King, to his youngest brother Noel who left BCS in 1934 to move to England with his parents. He was a Captain in the British Airborne Forces and saw action at the Battle of Arnhem and was actually present at the Japanese surrender in Rangoon in 1945.

Honouring his holiness and explaining key tenants of the Sikh Faith prior to his visit to Darbar with the Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib at the information centre, Harminder Sahib.

Beautiful Emotional Tonic to the Heart and Soul. Well done! you perform these extraordinary gestures with selfless commitment for the love of all.

OCA [India] Northern Chapter AGM 2019

NOTICE : ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OCA (INDIA) NORTHERN CHAPTER 

The Annual General Meeting of the Northern Chapter of the OCA (India).  Is scheduled to be held on 30th September 2019 at 5.30 pm, in the basement of the Chandigarh Golf Academy (of the Chandigarh Golf Club), Sector 6, Chandigarh
The proposed agenda for the AGM will be as under
  • ITEM NO 1 To confirm the minutes of the last AGM
  • ITEM NO 2 To adopt the annual report of the Secretary
  • ITEM NO 3 To adopt the audited accounts for the period 01 April 2018 to 31 March 2019
  • ITEM NO 4 To examine any proposal duly approved by the Executive Committee
  • ITEM NO 5 To conduct any other business with the permission of the chair

Flood relief / contributions sought

Dear OC’s.

I’am writing to inform you that the incessant rains during this years Monsoon season have played havoc in the state of Punjab resulting in a terrible tragedy in the making.

A senior OC Mr.Daljit Singh Gill (Class of 67) along with some of his companions are working selflessly for providing relief in the badly flooded villages in Punjab by providing drinking water, medicines and other relief material.

He has requested for OC’s to make a contribution to help battle this tragedy.
