A BIT OF HISTORY
The Simla Agreement on Bilateral Relations between India and Pakistan was signed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and President of Pakistan, Z. A. Bhutto, at Simla on July 2, 1972.

Benazir Bhutto visited BCS during that time and here is a picture with the BCS Headmaster Mr R K von Goldstein

A few years ago before she passed away, I was with her in Washington DC and reminded her of her visit to BCS in 1972. She was overjoyed and recalled with fondness and dare I say, nostalgia her visit.

This was at a very high level political meeting and because of this connection, she became my big supporter and lobbied key people to listen to me, to what I was proposing/saying.

She was quite a Lady. May her soul Rest in Peace!

Mr. Jain: Can you share with us what you were proposing in this “high level political meeting in Washington DC” with the finest prime minister of Pakistan

        Mr. Joshi,

Suffice it to say that the important aspect was her fond memories and nostalgia for our great School.

Perhaps some day when we meet in person, I might be able to share our sensitive conversation. It was profound!

I met her even in 1995, the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations when she was serving as the Prime Minister and she made quite an impression on all, esp. me as you see.

        Thank you for your understanding.

I just saw this (11/07/12) and am so proud that my school and my headmaster (whom I knew very well) is connected with the finest prime minister of Pakistan (whom I greatly admire). The post above by montri srinarula: “she repled with salam malaikum.m.snarula rivaz 1972 schoolcaptain” is profound. Jai Joshi, MD (Rivaz, 1954-1063)

Ya Mo, I do remember, When we School Prefects were introduced to her, before the gymnastics display. She was over-awed by the display and also got a video coverage done

I was not even born then, but getting to know such epics in the history of the school always give me a great feel in being a Cottonian.

Could some one let Iftikhar Malik know about this photograph. He is the the young Prefect from Cotton House who recalled Bradman and Hammond, and talked about how our school “closed the great wooden doors at the entrance to Irwin Hall in honor of the Muslim boys who left the School in 1947” and they “were reopened to honor the contingent from Pakistan invited to the 150th year celebrations” Ref: “A School Boys Story”, on this website, one that I fondly recall
