Saturday 29 April 9 OCs with some wives gathered at Barford Warwickshire – this is an annual ‘at-home’ event hosted by Sheila, wife of late Bobby Reed (R 41-46) – continues to his memory.
We believe this simple way to refresh our fraternal acquaintance and rekindle fond memories – this practice helps restore the Spirit of BCS.
The photo taken at the entrance of Watchbury Cottage of 9 OCs.
R to L School Captain 1954 Daljit Singh Jaijee (R 47-54) John Phillips (C 39-45) Gay Niblett (R 40-47) Joginder Chahal (c 44-50) our oldest member 93 Lance Jones (L 35-39)
Stringer ii (Lefroy 43-47) Peter Johans (I 44-48) Raj Lamba (L 49-59) Bambi SK Majumdar (53 – 59).
We enjoyed a dining-room full lunch after drinks & starters (samosas) in the vine covered conservatory where the girls dined – and thank you Sheila & daughter Jancis for your kind warm hospitality.
The afternoon is consigned to another nostalgic memory of innocent schoolboy camaraderie as count down the days for the 24 June OCA (UK) Reunion.
A small group of OC’s and their wives often meet up in Perth Western Australia. On these occasions we usually gather at one another’s homes to talk about our old school days. Though it has been over many years since we were there, the memories come flooding back and we all have a good laugh. A few months ago we were visited by Peter Johans and his wife from Switzerland. He was a bit younger than us, but we enjoyed his company as we would any OC’c that come to Perth W.A. The photo was taken at Peter Rollo’s home in Dianella.
I also enjoyed a trip to Sydney to meet up with Peter Maidment and his wife Hanna. Peter was House Captain of Rivaz House in 1943, while I was with Curzon House. It was great meeting up, as the last time I saw Peter was in Perth in the early 50 ties. We enjoyed a lovely Chinese meal while we recalled our time in BCS. Photo was taken in Chatswood Sydney..
Best wishes to all Cottonians and Old Cottonians… Dick D’Abreu.
Further to Peter Rollo’s letter regarding Peter Johans’ visit to Perth from Switzaland on Friday 30th April. I email the photo of the happy group. It was good to catch up with Peter Johans and his wife on their visit to Perth. He was in BCS only a few years after we left, but when recalling his memories of the old school nothing seemed different to when we were there in the 1940’ies. All of us in Perth W.A. wish him and his wife well.
Here is peter Rollo’s email referred to by Dick:
Dear Anil. Just made contact with an OC, who you may not have on your list of OCs. His name is Peter JOHANS. He entered the Prep school in 1944 and the main school in 1947. He left BCS in 1948. He is married and lives in Switzerland. He is coming over to Perth West Australia later this month for a visit, will find out more about him. He was there after my time. Hope you and the family are all keeping well. Regards Peter.
